Andrea Eickelmann, DNP-FNP

Andrea is a Pacific Northwest native, growing up Shoreline and Seattle. She received her bachelors degree in International Relations from Webster University. Three years of her studies at Webster were at their Thailand campus. She completed her nursing requirements and her doctorate of nursing practice-family nurse practitioner (DNP-FNP) through Seattle University. She did her doctoral project on weight stigma in healthcare and created an anti-weight bias educational tool for nurse practitioner students.

Andrea has had a variety of professional experiences, from slinging pizzas to EMT to school nurse to airport security officer, before settling on a career as an advanced practice clinician (APC). Prior to joining NOHN, she was working as a nurse at a residential eating disorder treatment facility, which provided valuable experience about the intersectional nature of patient conditions and identities.

Andrea's medical practice centers on the autonomy and agency of her patients: "My role is to provide information and insight on your medical needs so that you can make the decision that best suites you. Communities that I enjoy having the opportunity to work with are LGBTQIA folx, female identified folx, and large bodied folx. Ultimately what I enjoy most is working with patients that want a healthcare partner, rather than a dictator."

In her spare time, Andrea enjoys many local activities: "Besides my, so far, futile attempts to will myself to morph into a mermaid so that I may go play with the seals in the ocean... I have been enjoying the Discovery Trail, the Shore Aquatic Center, attempting to sample every coffee shop in Port Angeles, the smell of the ocean as I walk to work, and listening to the city hall bells from my apartment." She's also a voracious consumer of podcasts; her current favorites include Not Another DND Podcast, Three Black Halflings, The Nocturnist, On Point, and many more.
