Dr. Stephen Canale: “Port Angeles is a hidden gem…”

For the past 14 years I have been living in Port Angeles, enjoying the small town living and access to the outdoors that the area provides. There is a huge need for dental services in Port Angeles and working at NOHN has given me the opportunity to address this need for many of the most vulnerable members of our community. I have found my patients to be very grateful for the dental treatment I am able to provide, and our dental team takes great pride in helping to serve them.

Port Angeles is a hidden gem for those that love the outdoors, with year-round opportunities to enjoy an incredible variety of activities. I have been fortunate to be able to take advantage of many of these activities while living in Port Angeles. I’ve hiked in the alpine of Olympic National Park, snowboarded, kayaked in the ocean and rivers, swam for miles in Lake Crescent, surfed, road biked, gone trail running and more, all within 20 miles of my house. This is a truly unique area. I constantly find new adventures and spectacular places to visit. I love living here!

Where We Work, Live and Play

Port Angeles is nestled between the Olympic Mountains to the south and the Strait of Juan de Fuca to the north, approximately 2-3 hours by car from Seattle and 90 minutes by ferry to Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. Olympic National Park, located just outside Port Angeles, offers a variety of hiking, biking, fishing, and camping opportunities.

Port Angeles and nearby Sequim sit in a rain shadow, which means more sun and less rain on average than other parts of western Washington. The mild climate allows for year-round gardening and growing opportunities.

In addition to the spectacular scenery and mild climate, Olympic Peninsula residents enjoy a strong sense of community, little to no traffic, a lower cost of living than the big cities (median home price = $459K), access to good schools and medical facilities, low risk of wildfires, and no state income tax!
