Kim Ykema, LICSW

Kim Ykema, LICSW

Kim was born in San Francisco, has many relatives in the Pacific Northwest, and grew up in the Philadelphia area on the East Coast. She graduated from Eastern University in St. Davids, PA, with a BS in Business Administration, then pursued her MSW degree at Marywood University in Scranton, PA.

She moved to the Olympic Peninsula in 2014 to pursue her career as a mental health therapist, working toward LICSW licensing during five years at Peninsula Behavioral Health. Kim has been in private practice in Port Angeles since 2019, specializing in trauma work and sensorimotor therapy.

She loves to work with adults who are in transition in their lives, whether it's pursuing higher education, raising families, changing careers, adjusting to single life, or aging gracefully.

Kim enjoys hiking along beach and forest trails. She also meets with friends to use InterPlay tools to tell stories and move mindfully in safe and affirming environments. At home, there is always a pile of books at Kim's fingertips, anything from historical fiction to indigenous wisdom to current works by Brene Brown.
