21 Aug Overdose Awareness Day Event Planned August 31
Clallam County will join communities around the world on Monday, August 31, for International Overdose Awareness Day (IOAD), an opportunity to honor lives lost, support those grieving, and reaffirm a commitment to ending overdose in our community.
Community members are invited to join local medical, behavioral health, and SUD treatment providers at Port Angeles City Pier from 6:00-8:00 p.m. for a free, family-friendly community event with activities that include:
– Creative art and craft stations for reflection and expression
– Games and interactive activities that create connection
– Stories from those with lived experience of loss and recovery
– Quiet spaces for mindfulness and remembrance
– Narcan training
– Raffle baskets: Earn tickets by participating in activities
– Resources for grief support, behavioral health, recovery, and harm reduction
The event is hosted in partnership by North Olympic Healthcare Network (NOHN), Peninsula Behavioral Health, Harm Reduction Health Center/Clallam County Public Health, Reflections Counseling Services Group, Klallam Counseling Services, Jamestown Healing Clinic, Olympic Personal Growth Center, Olympic Peninsula Health Services, and other local agencies.
