About Michael Walker, MA, PhD-Candidate
Michael grew up in a tiny mountain town in Northern California, far from sunny beaches and palm trees. He studied clinical psychology at Pacifica Graduate Institute in Santa Barbara, CA (which is near the beach), and is currently a doctoral candidate as he nears completion of his dissertation and his clinical hours for licensure. NOHN welcomed Mike to the Behavioral Health team in March 2025, after he completed 1.5 years of clinical psychology internship at Rose City Center in Pasadena, CA, and two year-long practicums in Chicago, IL.
Michael came to psychotherapy after careers in ministry and nursing, including eight years of active duty in the U.S. Navy. He works with adults and adolescents with a wide range of issues and needs, including social or relationship challenges, mental health diagnoses and learning disabilities, and LGBTQQIAA+ identities. When not working, he spends time with his family, cuts rocks and gemstones for jewelry and art, and sometimes paints with watercolors, writes fiction and nonfiction, plays folk music, and reads.
