About Lisa Skarling, MD

Lisa (she/her) is a mom and Midwest transplant who spent much of her early life on cross country skis in Elk River, MN. She graduated from the University of Minnesota Medical School, where she participated in the Rural Physician Associate Program in St. Croix Falls, WI. Before medical school, she received a Master’s of Music Education from the University of Kansas and worked as a board-certified music therapist at the University of Minnesota Children’s Hospital and North Memorial Hospice.

During the COVID-19 pandemic she volunteered as a coordinator for MN CovidSitters, arranging volunteer emergency childcare for healthcare workers, and as a street medic at George Floyd Square in Minneapolis. She is in the Addiction Medicine Area of Concentration with the Swedish Cherry Hill Family Medicine Residency. She is passionate about primary care across all ages, reproductive health, addiction medicine, gender-affirming care, and palliative care.

When she’s not taking care of patients, she enjoys playing piano and guitar, learning to dance west coast swing, and exploring the Olympic Peninsula with her wife and toddler son.
